Vacations, Vino, and Veterinary Scheduling

Let’s all take a minute and think back to your last vacation. (Ready? Go!)

Mine was a trip to Northern California that involved flying across the control and a rental car that my girlfriend and I drove from San Jose to Santa Cruz to Napa Valley, to Carmel, to Pebble Beach, and then all the way back to San Jose.

A few months before leaving, my girlfriend and I (mostly her) had carefully planned out every aspect of that vacation beforehand. We had to plan:

  • Flights to take Me from Baton Rouge to San Francisco

  • A rental car that was road trip worthy for four full-grown adults (plus luggage)

  • Hotels and Airbnbs along the way

  • Reservations at vineyards

  • Tickets to the Pro-Am Golf Tournament

  • Restaurants to stop at that would accommodate varying dietary needs.

I scheduled my flights that fit our itinerary online through Expedia. I reserved a rental car through Turo. We reserved all of our lodging online. Then my girlfriend booked our wine tastings and bought our Pro-Am tickets online. We even ordered a pizza late at night on the Domino’s app.

I’m sure at this point, you’re wondering - why are you recounting your entire vacation planning process on a blog that exists to help grow veterinary practices?

Answer: Because NOT ONCE during this process did my girlfriend or I pick up a phone to call to book a hotel room. Or our flights. Or our rental car. Or any of the wine tastings. Even the local restaurants in the historic town of Carmel were on DoorDash!

Maybe you’re not as anti-phone as my Gen Z girlfriend and I. But, I’d bet that at a minimum, you found and booked your flight for your last vacation online.

So let me ask you this…

If we’re booking all of this online, why are we still forced to call our vet clinics to schedule an appointment?

The benefits of enabling online scheduling at your veterinary practice are immense. When you consider that over 307 million people in the United States are active internet users (Zippia) and that 77% of people search online before booking an appointment (Pew Research), you can see that we are talking about an incredible opportunity to reach people and grow your veterinary practice.

Real-time, online scheduling from Chckup allows potential clients to schedule an appointment with your veterinary practice wherever and whenever they come across your clinic online, just like they’re used to in every other industry.

Chckup can increase your current web traffic-to-patient conversion rate by up to 35-70%, just by being available 24/7 in the places where patients are looking for a vet clinic. This means that you’re capitalizing on your marketing investments, and you can get more new clients without additional ad spend!

There’s a reason other industries are doing it.

And the reason is: IT WORKS.
